THE MODERN MANAGEMENT OF GOLF COURSES

SUMMARY


PROBLEM

1- Problem of the management of Golf courses
The main factor of discussion in any forum related to the modern management of golf courses is its profitability.
We start from the assumption that golf is a game where a group of people are joined together with the intention of enjoying an exciting sport as golf is, and that their main concern is to enjoy the games aesthetics, the landscape… or simply to take a walk in a pleasant place. Thanks to golf, people of any age or condition can enjoy all this pleasures.
Until many years ago, golf clubs were formed by people in a community or determined place. They contributed with enough financial resources in order to build the golf course and the suitable facilities for the practice of the game. These people organized themselves in societies and their only aim was to get the management of the club off the ground, without getting worried about the profitability, or if the price paid by the services was coherent or no.
There is neither club nor golf course nowadays that does not take care of its management to the maximum and try, within its position, to make the most of its profitable results.





OBJECTIVES
2- To create the adequate model

It is a matter of great importance to introduce a suitable and coherent model of management in a golf course and a club under construction, as it could be to vary the direction in a loss-making club, no matter how old and antiquated its infrastructures, its long term survival has to be the main target of any profit making or even a non-profit making organisation. And a golf club should not feel the problems and the economic stagnation of current times.

The objective of the present work is to create the appropriate questions in order to find the appropriate answers and thus, to be able to have the clearest and possible ideas, and to minimize the possibility of mistake in the election of the management model for a certain golf course.



METHOD
3- “The elegance is in simplicity” and that is the key.
The thoroughness along with a broad and open vision of the problems of modern golf has to be the base to find the balance in the METHOD OR MODEL.
The management of a Golf Club is an art not a science, and for that reason, the methodology of a work has inherent philosophical and psychological variables to the organization of human groups, and its union with the honesty when it comes of being in charge of an appropriate management within a positioning, like the Campeche Golf Course, allows to realise the estimations that are carrying out in this work.



OUTCOMES
4. - Susceptibility in the interpretation
It is known that the interpretations always have been subjective and that they vary according to the fulfilled or not fulfilled expectations that have been held of an enterprise project.
In the current essay, a management and organization model is presented. Its results are based on ideal estimations of number of members of a Golf Club and on a operational capacity the most optimized for a high quality standard and, for that reason, the variation in the results of the assumptions of operation accounts has a fluctuation depending on the number of members and the services and qualities that are wanted to offer.


INTRODUCTION


As with everything in life, in the world of modern golf, there are always more requirements in every sense. Everything arises, grows, declines, and eventually dies, that is why it is necessary to deal with any sort of Society, either a business association, sport centre, couple or friendship, like a an alive being who needs to be take care of and watered day by day.
In a Golf Club, an extra dose of care is needed, as well as emotional intelligence as it relates to Societies dedicated to the benefit and service of people, who, want to spend pleasant moments and feel the Club to which they belong to like their own.
Indeed problems come from the character of the members and membership owners, actions owners etc, which grants them a series of Rights and Obligations, but mainly rights they are paying for. Trying to take care of and fuss over members, sometimes comes into conflict with the connotation that have to manage any human group of work and with maintaining out of danger and if it is possible to generate benefits in the account of operation of a Golf Club.



The present essay tries to put on the table several questions that are necessary when a serious and rigorous work is carried out. Because having the suitable questions means that there are many possibilities of finding the answers adapted to any conjuncture that appears. And from the point of view of the economic and human management, this is of prime importance.
It is about to decide on the base of objective parameters, as they are the grant of material and personal resources and services to render, based on the number of memberships and therefore, houses sold, as the project of the CAMPECHE GOLF RESORT go united to the other.
Whenever the sold houses depend on the memberships of the Golf Club, the evident problems are that: if the rate of sale of houses is low and the Golf Club begins to work, there will be a clear problem of management, as standards of quality adapted to the exigencies with which the global project of resort was conceived, will not be offered.
There is where it starts the good management, the rigor, the imagination and, definitely, the know-how to take and to drive the boat in his long vital crossing.


On the assumptions that are shown in the projected operating account, it can be appreciated that, if there is not a correlation between sold houses and, therefore, number of memberships sold, which practically contribute the 60 or 70% of the annual capital necessary for the maintenance of the Golf course, its facilities and the wages of the staff that works in it, it might be an obstacle in the Golf Club’s operating account.
Therefore, it is essential to have prepared vaccines to apply; being alert at the beginning and also being conscious that it will be necessary to be agile if once the path has begun, cures are needed to apply.

When I began this master’s degree, I was certainly expectant about what I would find in it: the kind of people, structures of the syllabus… and certainly, it has been an opportunity of growth for me in many senses, not only by the amount of compiled information and the experience passed on from the different lecturers, but also with the approach and the inspiring and enriching vision from some of them, who have enriched me enormously.

WHAT HAPPEN TIGER, ARE YOU CRAZY?

When you are the best professional golfer of the history, when you are the sportsman better paid of the world, when you have a great prestigious, famous, wonderful family, two children and a nice wife, you throw away all. It´s embarrassament, unacceptable, you´d plaid whit the feeling of persons, children . . . you are not worthwhile. A man of your level can´t make this.

GOLF COURSE PROFITABLE

Its very difficult to win money in business golf today. The most golf courses haven´t members enough and the costs are more higher than income, for this reason, there to change the model and settle results. There will have close down some golf course because ins´t possible to held the accounts. Keeping in mind that location, location, location is the first factor to be able profits on business golf.

VOLVER LA MIRADA ATRÁS

Leyendo un enlace de una amiga feisbukiana sobre como ser un buen "futurista" o persona con visión de futuro, por cierto muy inspirador, me puse a hacer introspección y a repasar mí vida, osea justo lo contrario. Me explico: soy de los que pienso que igual que hay que pensar en local y en global, a corto plazo y a largo plazo, creo que hay que mirar hacia atras y hacía delante en la vida, pues si uno no tiene bien integrada su vida pasada y metabolizadas todas sus frustraciones y sus victorias, ya sean éstas grandes o pequeñas, mal podrá ver claro como el agua de un río de montaña el futuro. La falta de claridad futura, en cuanto a emprendimientos se trata, suele venir dada por frenos acusa de pequeñas o grandes frustraciones pasadas que deben estar masticadas, tragadas y metabolizadas para que no tengamos el juicio contaminado y así podamos avanzar con fluidez. Tolo lo anterior parece fácil cuando cualquiera de nosotros observamos externamente los problemas y vicisitudes de las vidas y los negocios de los demás, ahora bien, aplicárselo a uno mismo, autogestionarse, es arina de otro costal.

ENERGÍA CONFINADA

Cuando uno no logra estructurar y desorrallar lo que tiene en su mente, es como si tuvieses energía nuclear confinada esperando salir, buscando una vía de escape, una pequeña fuga para poder aliviarse. La sensación de opresión es importante pues la energía acumulada invade todo tu ser. La solución está en la meditación, en dejar que se imponga la conciencia pues ese estado desactiva toda energía y la sensación de unidad con el universo y de paz interior es infinita.
Para los que somos católicos practicantes ese estado de placer y abandono, de conexión con un ser superior se consigue en la liturgía de una misa. Pero dando un paseo por un parque, montaña, campo de golf, playa . . . . también uno puede experimentar esa conexión con el universo que nos ayude a trascender de la realidad del mundo terrenal.

LO QUE TENGA QUE SER SERÁ

A un hombre de un pueblo se le escapó un caballo al monte, -mala suerte dijeron los vecinos- mala suerte buena suerte, quién sabe? respondió él. A los pocos días el caballo volvió seguido de cuatro lleguas, -buena suerte dijeron entonces los vecinos- buena suerte mala suerte quién sabe, dijo el señor. A las pocas semanas sufrió una caída de una de las lleguas y se rompió una pierna, -mala suerte dijeron entonces los vecinos- mala suerte buena suerte, quién sabe?. Pasadas unos días estalló una guerra y al único que no llamaron a filas fue al buen señor. Buena suerte mala suerte, quíen sabe?
